When a Spirit Knows Your Name...Part one

By Faye Navarro
A while ago I posted this little sign on our page to see if anyone would respond  Having been on a lot of investigations and introducing oneself  I often wonder how many investigators get a reply. How does it make that investigator feel?  I know for myself I have asked on many occasions to have them say my name and never have gotten a response. That is until recently.

There are so many theories out there about evp's and really there is no actual proof of these theories. As investigators we are always trying to gather evidence to our experiences to help back up our claims, our personal experiences.  I know for myself when I go on investigations weather it be a historical or residential case we introduce ourselves.  I do usually ask them sometime during the investigation to please say my name.  My name is Faye not a very common name at least with myself I have only met 2 other ladies with it as their first name and let's just say they are years older.  Don't get me wrong it is such a simple name and a lot of other words can easily be mistaken for Faye.  That is why I emphasize on the "F" when I ask them to please say my name.  Now as to the theory that evp's are nothing but radio waves well I can tell you a couple of my thoughts on that one in my situation.  One where I was located there were no radio waves it was below deck plus how often do you hear my name on the radio even any type of commercials on the radio. Ya never, It's not like people call in all the time saying my name.

Anyway for my first time hearing my name being said granted this was found after reviewing my audio it was not heard at the time.  In the location there was only 3 of us present and no one even remotely close to us let alone who knew my name.  To me is was the most coolest thing to have someone say my name less than a minute after introducing myself and asking them to say my name. Granted this was the third time being at this location so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

(Some of you may need headphone while others will not. We all have different levels of hearing)

We had gone to the Miner's Cabin in Gold Hill Nevada recently having been there before we were looking forward to see what we could capture.  We had experiences before that we had hoped that this trip would prove to be fruitful. The things we personally experienced were fascinating yet they were personal experiences meaning no proof captured.  I have been going over audio off and on for the last couple of weeks and even though during the stay it may have seemed quiet, going over audio has proved differently.  So far the most fascinating experience for me was to have my recorder going the minute we got into the cabin. Now I know this really isn't a completely controlled environment meaning evp session but I do record always not just during evp session because spirits are going to talk when they want to not just when we are ready. Anyway having reviewed audio I had captured 2 evp's of my name being said by a male within 10 minutes of being there. We were unpacking the car and groceries when he spoke.

At the time it was just Jennifer and myself at the cabin also at times we had Jason but during the first 2 days Jason was not present at the time the evp's were captures. What makes this extra exciting for myself was that I had not introduced myself or even said anything about the recorder. I had came in started recording sat the recorder on the dining room table and processed to unpack the car.  Like I had said I had been to this location twice before and it seems like they remember me. I had some people ask me if things are happening at my house thinking maybe I have a spirit following me. I have no experiences or feeling that maybe that is the case. I do feel that with my previous visits I had express concern and care about the spirits that still are around the Miner's Cabin so to me just seems like they are pleased with my caring nature.  I do hope to go back again in the near future and see if once again they say my name.

Again I can't help but wonder how many of you experience your name being said. Where you able to capture it on audio/video? Where you at the location before?  Had you introduced yourself prior to your name being said?  I do have more audio from the Miner's Cabin in Gold Hill NV they are short and a few with my name including other things.

I had started writing about this when I first heard my name being said on audio recorder while investigating back in Aug and Nov of 2015.  Aug was during the Grey Ghost paracon in Alameda Ca. on the USS Hornet. We have gone many times even this last year bought season passes because we love this ship so much.  Well, instead of starting over I decided just to continue to add about my experiences over the last  years since this started. The reason I say started is well ever since getting my name the first time I have ever since have heard my name audibly (out loud) and also on audio recorder at historical locations including at residential cases we have done over the last 2 years.  I have shared my evp's not just with my team members but with friends that are on other teams or solo. I have also shared with family and friends. I never ever tell them what it is I want them to listen for and when I save a file I number them I never put as name what is being said or to any clue of what was going on.   With that being said it has been an interesting experience.  I have started going over old audio well at least the last 2 years to find this one males voice that sounds familiar. He has been the main voice that had said my name on all the cases. My teammates have even caught on their audio my name being said.  Now you might think that it is scary, for me I don't look at it that way at all.  I do look at it a couple of different ways...one being some sort of attachment which hasn't done anything to me or anyone around me. Just sort of there. Two, possible spirit guide or teacher not sure but open to the idea.  My next goal is to go further back before the first time I have heard my name and see if it is possibly there and I just didn't catch it. I feel things happen for a reason and things come to us or we notice when we are suppose to.  So I have many avenues to explore all the while I continue to help the team help others. Please stay tuned as I continue my personal journey of searching for the answer. I have recently visited once again in over 2 years the Miner's Cabin which I have days of audio to go over. I will share with you my findings if there are any....

Until then thank you for your support.

A Hazard of being a Paranormal Investigator

By Scott Wolf

Paranormal investigating is a hazardous hobby. Wondering around in dark homes, dilapidated buildings, or buildings being renovated can lead to bumps, bruises, cuts, and more serious injuries. All those things can be prevented if you are safe, cautious, and watch out for each other. There is another hazard of investigating. That hazard is attachments. Attachments are when the energy or spirit of a dead person/entity “attaches” to someone and usually shows up at home.

Ask any paranormal investigator about attachments and they will probably tell you stories about the activity in their own homes. Attachments are an unintended consequence of paranormal investigating. It seems even if you take precautions by saying prayers before investigations or do smudging afterwords, they will sometimes find a way to come home with you.

I have had strange activity going on in every single house I have lived in since I started investigating. Over my ten years of investigating, I have lived in seven different homes in four states. I always think that when I move, I can just verbally demand that whatever is there stays behind. It never does. Once we get settled into our new home, the activity starts right up again.

One would probably think that since I am a paranormal investigator and experienced a lot of crazy stuff that activity in my own home wouldn’t really bother me, but it does. It does a lot! It’s one thing to go into someone else’s house, have some experiences, and then go home. It’s something completely different being woke up in the middle of the night by something you can’t see! I guess the only benefit of this is that I am able to understand exactly what our clients are going through.

The activity started after I conducted my first couple of investigations. It was subtle at first. I would hear footsteps in the house, noises around my bedroom at night that couldn’t be explained, and a general feeling of being watched. Over the years, and during certain periods, the activity has increased. In the last ten years since this all began, I have heard voices of women and children, been poked in the back while I am going to sleep, heard knocking on the walls, and had drawers and other things open and close at night. The activity only happens in the bedroom and only takes place once the lights go out and I am trying to go to sleep.

After every night of increased activity, I share with my wife what happened. She always thinks it’s just my imagination, even though I see her wake up and react to whatever is going on. She already thinks I am crazy enough going out looking for ghosts. Lately I have been able to get her to take it more seriously. One night I was working a night shift and she was in bed reading. She started feeling like something was moving around at the end of our bed. Thinking it was the cat, she looked down and saw nothing was there. As she stared at the end of the bed, she could see the sheets moving. A couple of minutes later a blanket we had at the end of the bed moved about four inches, while she was watching it. She believes me now!

The activity continues no matter what I do. When it picks up, I just tell it to knock it off. Well, I sometimes use a little bit harsher language than that! If it is really causing me problems with getting sleep I will use some sage and try out a prayer of protection or removal. It usually helps for a little while, but than it’s back again.

One common thing we hear on every investigation is the client saying that they don’t want us to think they are crazy or they want us to help prove that they aren’t crazy. My response to them is that we don’t think they are crazy at all and that they should come check out my house! There isn’t a person on our team that doesn’t have some kind of activity going on in their house. At this point, I would think it would be strange if they didn’t!

So, if you are an investigator, thinking about being one, or you just like to visit places that are reported to be haunted, be careful out there and at least try and take some precautions to protect yourself before you go! You may be bringing home more than memories from your investigation or visit.
